Author : Hermann Hesse

Synopsis :
Demian is a book telling about a young Emil Sinclair who was born in a good family, they called it a light family. It was educated, well-mannered, beautiful and harmonious family. However, Emil didn't feel that he belonged to his family, his family were too different from him. It was as if they lived in another realm. He was being torn between two worlds, the world of illusion and the real world or what he described as the spiritual truth.
In his way to find his true self, he got involved in a difficult kind of relationships with a bully named Franz Kromer, who made the boy did the different errands for him and took his money away.
He also met Max Demian, a new boy from his Latin School who helped him. He guided Sinclair to find what life really is. Under Demian's influence, Sinclair started understanding that the world is way more complicated place than his father and teachers believed.
Sinclair also met Demian's mother, Frau Eva, and soon enough, she became her ideal for him.

So, in this book, eventho the title is Demian, but the main character here is Emil Sinclair. Demian is only being his guide to find his true self.
